What architectural design means for us
For us, architectural design is not just about producing drawings. It is about working with the site, the project’s economics, the future users and the whole life cycle of the building. An architectural project must be buildable, comfortable to operate and ready for further development over decades.
- We work in line with the Russian Government Decree No. 87 with full sets of design sections.
- We design in a BIM environment (Revit and other platforms) with coordination of all disciplines.
- We plan ahead for state expertise, operations and future digital twin requirements.
- We design for different climate zones: from southern regions to the Far North.
- We pay close attention to architecture that is integrated into the landscape and historic context.
What is included in architectural design
Within this service we take responsibility for the full journey — from analysing initial data to delivering complete design and construction documents ready for site.
- Analysis of the site, planning regulations, land-use rules, GPZU and engineering conditions.
- Development of an architectural concept and key performance indicators (KPIs/TKP).
- Design stage (Project): architectural, structural and MEP sections, site layouts, reports.
- Construction documents: detailed drawings for construction — plans, sections and details.
- BIM design: information model of the building, schedules, quantities and model outputs.
- Preparation of documentation for state expertise and support in addressing comments.
- Author’s supervision during construction to preserve quality and the architectural intent.
Key stages of architectural design
- Collecting and checking initial data. Analysis of planning regulations, GPZU, engineering surveys, existing architectural materials, client requirements and site constraints.
- Shaping the architectural concept. Massing and volumes, functional layout, KPIs, first visuals and different site layout options.
- Design stage (Project). Preparation of design documentation under Decree No. 87, coordination of architecture, structures and MEP, integration in a common BIM model.
- Issuing construction documents. Detailed development of details, schedules and diagrams for the construction site and contractors.
- Construction support. Author’s supervision, responses to RFIs, adjustments while preserving the design intent and regulatory compliance.
BIM and digital twins in architectural projects
Almost all architectural projects at Archimed Group are delivered in BIM. This means the model can be used not only during construction but also as the basis for a digital twin of the building.
- Coordination of all disciplines in a shared BIM model with clash detection.
- Automatic generation of schedules, quantities and finish tables.
- Possibility to run 4D/5D analyses (time and cost) together with partners.
- Preparing the model for handover to operations and integration with asset management systems.
When required, we combine architectural design with laser scanning, drone surveys and data from engineering systems to create a highly accurate digital copy of the asset.
Special conditions: Far North, complex terrain, heritage
Archimed Group works not only with standard buildings. Our portfolio includes projects in the Far North, on complex terrain and within cultural heritage contexts.
- Design in permafrost conditions and under extreme temperatures.
- Consideration of wind and snow loads in northern and coastal regions.
- Buildings within historic ensembles and cultural heritage protection zones.
- Selection of structural systems and materials matching climate and logistics constraints.
This experience allows us to anticipate solutions that preserve the building’s reliability and optimise the total cost of ownership across its life cycle.
Typical tasks clients bring to us
- “We need to design a residential complex that is comfortable to live in and easy to sell.”
- “We have a site on a slope / near water — we want to understand what can realistically be built there.”
- “We need an architectural project for a terminal or public building with high footfall.”
- “We are planning a tourism or wine cluster that should become a calling card for the territory.”
- “We have an existing building and need to re-plan, extend, add storeys or adapt it for a new function.”
